Marko Topchii, born in 1991 in Kyiv (Ukraine) to a musical family, began his guitar studies with Volodymyr Homenyuk at the age of 4. At the age of 21 Marko graduated at the Kharkiv Conservatory with Volodymyr Dotsenko, an Honoured Artist of Ukraine, continuing with a three-year postgraduate programme at the Kyiv Music Academy with Yuri Aleksik, Honoured Artist of Ukraine. In 2018 he joined the postgraduate performance program at the San Francisco Conservatory, now continuing as a master soloist at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Geneve – with Judicaёl Perroy (France).
 
Marko has won more than 100 awards worldwide in international classical guitar competitions (no age limit, financial award). Among them - 55 first prizes. In 2023 he had won the world’s prestigious Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition, 50th edition, in New York, USA, that will be followed with a 50-concert tour throughout the USA, Canada and Mexico, a new recital at the Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, and another album recording with Naxos. Marko had appeared with solo recitals at Carnegie Hall, Yamaha Ginza Hall (Tokyo), Halle Cortot (Paris) and many other venues.
 
Often performing with orchestras, his repertoire covers most of the known works for guitar and orchestra by Rodrigo, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Ponce, Villa-Lobos, Brouwer, Abril, Giuliani, Bacarisse and others. He uses strings provided by Augustine and plays guitars by Julian Dammann, Felix Müller and Jim Redgate.
 
Marko had already recorded 4 albums as part of his competition performance journey: - “Fleur de Son Classics” - as the winner of the JoAnn Falletta International Guitar Concerto Competition, (2016, Buffalo, NY) - “Contrastes Records” (2016, Seville, Spain) - for winning the Gredos San Diego guitar competition in Madrid - Naxos - as the winner of the Michele Pittaluga competition (2018, Alessandria, Italy) - Contrastes Records - as the winner of the Francisco Tarrega competition (2022,Benicassim, Spain).
