On February 18, 2025, a unique concert titled O.R.P.H.E.U.S. will take place at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall as part of the project “Musical Intervention as Support for Cancer Patients”. This charity concert will feature the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Alan Bjelinski and Mladen Tarbuk, and will include a diverse program showcasing both new compositions and timeless classics. The concert will present works by Mladen Tarbuk, Renata Novoselec, Mimio Marjanović Gonski, and Dario Cebić, composed specifically for this project.
In addition, Beethoven's “Ode to Joy” will be performed in a special arrangement for orchestra and piano, along with compositions by Matej Meštrović and Alfi Kabiljo.
The musical experience will be enriched by the winners of the Franz Shubert Award of the Vienna Conservatory - young people from the Croatian project Violinmusic4all, who will bring additional emotion with their performance, as oncology patients will also play with them. There will also be the playful and talented Children's Choir "Moderato" of the Središće Elementary School (Zagreb), the world vice-champions of the Tamburitza Trio of the Dugo Selo Music School and our esteemed artist of unique charm and incredible energy, Sandra Bagarić. Get ready for moments filled with emotions and musical magic!
This concert will not only be a musical experience but also an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of musical interventions as an adjunct therapy in the recovery process of cancer patients. Alongside the musical program, expert talks and presentations will be held to explain how music can positively impact both the emotional and physical well-being of patients.
All proceeds from ticket sales will be directed towards furthering the development of this innovative project, which blends art, medicine, and social responsibility. We invite you to support this important initiative, attend the concert, and become a note of hope for those facing the challenges of cancer, while contributing to spreading the powerful message of the healing potential of music!
