The evening’s programme, titled Polish Young New Music, celebrates the meeting of two ensembles bound by a shared spirit of openness: a curiosity for today’s musical practices, a drive for sonic innovation, and a dedication to presenting fresh, original work. At its heart is also a wish to spark intercultural dialogue through art. Founded in 2013, Hashtag Ensemble is an eighteen-member collective whose musicians come together around a vision of contemporary music that is both adventurous and accessible. They combine innovative interpretations with improvisation and education, and regularly appear at major festivals in Poland and abroad. Known for reimagining the concert experience, they often perform in unexpected settings to reach wider audiences. Narrative runs through their programming, drawing listeners in and opening doors to those who might not usually attend contemporary music events. Their focus on amplifying the work of women composers and on weaving improvisation into their repertoire reflects an inclusive, forward-looking approach to new musical forms. This first concert presents works by six internationally acclaimed composers whose music confronts today’s social, political and environmental realities with bold sounds and strikingly diverse aesthetics.
