Christian McBride Big Band - the Best Blend of Traditional and Modern Jazz Soon to Appear at Lisinski Hall!

After several sold-out concerts, the Grammy Award-winning 18-piece band will present jazz music to the Zagreb audience in its best and most interesting form at Lisinski Hall on 25 October 2020!

Led by the legendary Christian McBride, one of the most sought-after bassists of his generation, they are well-known for their irresistible ability to communicate music, their unique performance and unforgettable experience, which is why they have been invited by the greats such as Sonny Rollins, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock or Pat Metheny to share the stage with them.

The 1930s and 1940s are often called the era of swing music and big bands, and the Christian McBride Big Band genuinely evokes the originality of this fantastic musical period, while tingeing it with modern post-bop sound to create the combination that has achieved global success.
McBride often likes to call his works “people music” and he considers this expression his personal mantra, because, as he says, “sometimes jazz musicians can get too caught up in their own heads; they get so serious and so caught up in their creativity that they’re not bringing the people in”. So his music is open to all, passionate, unique and easily understood, and he also often lets listeners participate in the creation of his works.

He has around 300 smaller or bigger music releases, and the latest one is inspired by the historical greats, such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Rosa Parks and Muhammad Ali. "The Movement Revisited: A Musical Portrait of Four Icons" is a historical and cultural imposing work in five movements. The first four movements are dedicated to the above mentioned greats, while the fifth one, "Apotheosis”, is dedicated to Barack Obama, the first African American President of the United States of America.

The Christian McBride Big Band will appear at Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall on 25 October 2020.

Tickets for the concert costing 190, 230 and 270 kunas are available at www.lisinski.hr or at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall box office.
