Hrvatski komorni orkestar was founded in 1988 at the initiative of the Croatian Association of Orchestral and Chamber Artists under the presidency of Stanko Mlinar. Its artistic founder, Anđelko Ramušćak, envisioned an ensemble dedicated to chamber orchestra repertoire while also providing young musicians with opportunities to perform and gain their first orchestral experience. The orchestra’s chief conductors have included Kazushi Ono, Pavle Dešpalj, Dian Tchobanov, Miran Vaupotić and Valentin Egel. During its more than 30 years of activity, the orchestra has collaborated with over 600 Croatian artists, both soloists and conductors, premiered nearly 100 works by Croatian composers, recorded six albums — the latest released by [PARMA Recordings](https://www.parmarecordings.com?utm_source=chatgpt.com) — and revived the opera *Jelka* by one of Croatia’s most significant composers, Blagoje Bersa. The orchestra has also been led by distinguished conductors including Nikolai Alexeev, Johannes Wildner, Enrico Dindo, Berislav Klobučar, Milan Horvat, Alan Buribayev, Uroš Lajovic, Nicholas Milton, Milan Turković, Nikša Bareza, Vjekoslav Šutej, Ivan Repušić and many others. The Croatian Chamber Orchestra is the recipient of awards from the Croatian Society of Music Artists and the Croatian Association of Orchestral and Chamber Artists, as well as the Milka Trnina Diploma for its contribution to Croatian culture.
