Twelve years after her first appearance in Croatia, one of today's leading pianists, Yulianna Avdeeva, returns to the stage of Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in the new season. Winning the first prize at the 2010 International Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw brought her international recognition, thanks to which she enjoys the reputation of one of the most beloved female musicians worldwide. An exceptional artist whose performances exude a fiery temperament and virtuosity, but also a special sensibility and persuasiveness, will perform as a soloist with the Orchestra of Italian Switzerland, the resident orchestra at the LAC (Lugano Arte e Cultura, Ticino, Switzerland).
Under the leadership of chief conductor Markus Poschner, who began his rich international career as an assistant to Sir Roger Norrington and Sir Colin Davis, the Orchestra has grown into one of the most successful ensembles in Europe, enthralling audiences in music centres with enthusiastic performances.
Thanks to their shared vision of exploring lesser‑known paths of interpretation and programming, the Orchestra and Markus Poschner have earned numerous awards, including the 2018 International Classical Music Award (ICMA).

In addition to exceptional musicians, the concert also attracts with a colourful programme interwoven with notable pieces of classical music.  Ludwig van Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture, Op. 62 and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Ninth Symphony in Eflat major, Op. 70 will be a lavishly ornamented frame for one of the most beloved pieces of the piano repertoire – Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in Bflat minor, Op. 23 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the virtuosic soloist part of which will be played by the excellent Yulianna Avdeeeva!
