The Croatian Music Youth String Orchestra

Artistic Director: Martin Krpan

The Croatian Music Youth String Orchestra was founded in 2011 through the artistic workshops of Jeunesses Musicales Croatia in Grožnjan, bringing together young and talented string players. The ensemble offers young musicians a unique opportunity to explore new approaches to music and the creative process, while developing skills that are essential for their professional growth and for shaping their musical and cultural perspectives.

The “Youth for Youth” concert series was launched by Jeunesses Musicales Croatia back in 1992 in collaboration with the Zagreb Academy of Music. Originally titled “Musical Talents,” the series was created to present concerts featuring the Academy’s most outstanding students at the Croatian Music Institute.

The programme was supported by many musicians who have since gone on to establish distinguished careers, highlighting the importance of supporting and promoting young musicians through concert opportunities and continued professional development.

Jeunesses Musicales Croatia has also encouraged and inspired numerous organisations and institutions to support young talents in a similar way by organising concerts and providing opportunities for emerging musicians.

The “Youth for Youth” series was conceived as a platform for the finest young musicians to perform for their peers as well as for Zagreb’s concert-going public. The series embodies genuine support for students and young musicians who are just embarking on their careers, seeking their audiences and in need of encouragement — especially those with the potential to leave a lasting mark on Croatia’s musical culture.
