The Recruits Are Coming - New LADO Ensemble Show Soon at Lisinski Hall

The LADO Ensemble is preparing a show titled The Recruits Are Coming, which they will perform for the Zagreb audience at Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall on 13 May.
“Continuing the practice started last year, the LADO Ensemble has put on new dance numbers, which have won awards at Croatian or international festivals. As many as three out of twelve dance numbers show customs associated with young men going off to the army, hence the title of this year's show. They are The Recruits Are Coming by Ivan Ivančan, which this year's show has been titled after, Behind Hills and Valleys by Stjepan Perko, which put the dances of the Moravian Croats on LADO’s repertoire for the first time ever, and Newlyweds, Come Here, a number that shows the wedding customs of Turopolje. These customs included the bridal headwear dance, in which young men displayed their fencing skills” Andrija Ivančan, artistic director of the LADO Ensemble, said.

Besides the above mentioned dances of Croats living on the territory of today's Czech Republic, this show will also be the first time that LADO will present the songs and dances from the island of Cres and the village of Jezera on the island of Murter.

It must be mentioned that, with the Recruits Are Coming show, LADO has joined the programme marking the 2018 European Cultural Heritage Year.
