LADO at Lisinski for all generations

The collaboration between the Lisinski Hall and the LADO Ensemble is vital for presenting Croatian traditional art to a broad audience and bringing it closer to them, combining superb artistic performance with education and the cultivation of new generations of audiences.

On November 30 and December 1, the Lisinski Hall will be filled with dance, song, and music from various regions of Croatia. In collaboration with the LADO Ensemble—which has been preserving, researching, and showcasing Croatian traditional art for 77 years—the Lisinski Hall announces programs for audiences of all ages: the gala annual concert *Time for Dance* (*Vrijeme plesa*) and the popular educational project A School Lesson with LADO (Školski sat s Ladom).

The gala annual concert Time for Dance, taking place on Monday, November 30, focuses on the creative process behind a dance performance. A behind-the-scenes look will be provided through introductory videos illustrating the hard work, research, and artistic shaping that precede a public performance. Croatia’s only professional folklore ensemble will perform some of the most demanding choreographies from its long and rich history—including iconic pieces such as Prigorske plesove (Dances of Prigorje), Podravski svatovi (Podravina Wedding), and Ladarke, as well as revived choreographies and premiere performances.

The following morning, December 1, LADO will present A School Lesson with LADO for children and young people. Over the course of a 45-minute "school lesson," the Ensemble showcases the richness of Croatian traditional art through the dance, song, and music of its professional dancers, singers, and musicians. The program takes the audience on a journey through various regions of Croatia, showcasing the diversity of dance, vocal, and musical traditions, as well as the unique character of the LADO Ensemble, comprised of dancers, singers, and multi-instrumentalist musicians.

Two programs present this same artistic world from different perspectives: Time for Dance (Vrijeme plesa) reveals the depth of knowledge, hard work, and artistic reflection behind the performance, while School Lesson (Školski sat) introduces this world to new generations. For tradition is a heritage to be preserved, yet also a living art form that is passed down, performed, and constantly reshaped.
Tickets for both programs are available at the Lisinski Hall box office and online at lisinski.hr.
