The Berlin Philharmonic is one of the orchestras that inspires awe at the very mention of it. Next year, the orchestra will mark its 140th anniversary. It gained international renown back in 1887 under conductor, composer and pianist Hans von Bülow, as well as guest conductors in that period: Hans Richter, Richard Strauss, Gustav Mahler. The list of great conductors who have led the orchestra during its long history also includes Herbert von Karajan, with whom the orchestra played at the 1968 Dubrovnik Summer Festival.
Claudio Abbado was the first conductor of the orchestra after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and in 13 years, he expanded the orchestra's repertoire and introduced works by contemporary composers. He was succeeded by Sir Simon Rattle as principal conductor, under whose direction the orchestra and he were appointed UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors.

Kirill Petrenko was appointed artistic director and chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic in 2015. He proudly continues the tradition of excellence, promoting the famous Berlin Philharmonic in the best possible way.

The Berlin Philharmonic played at today's Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb in 1941 under conductors Hans Knappertsbusch and Lovro von Matačić, and their last performance in Zagreb was in 1943 under conductor Hermann Abendroth.

Tickets costing HRK 600, 800, 1000 and 1200 are available at the Lisinski Hall box office and online at eventim.hr and HERE.
